'tis the season

....for holiday cards.

I love getting Christmas cards in the mail. It lifts my spirit and reminds me of the wonderful friends and family that are thinking of us during the holidays.

This year, I haven't received very many cards. My guess is that people are just behind since we lost a week between Thanksgiving and Christmas this year. I hope my beloved cards are still on their way.

If you haven't ordered your Christmas cards yet, it's not too late to get them out and spread some holiday cheer. My favorite place to order online cards is minted. They have the cutest design templates and free overnight shipping. Here are a few of my fave designs.

wonderful year holiday postcards
aquarelle no.2
white noel holiday ornament cards
reinpet holiday photo cards
If I'm being honest, I haven't sent Christmas cards the last few years. But I used to love creating my cards using beautiful photography and amazing designs. Sitting down with a hot cup of tea and addressing them to the people I love.

I've gotten away from it because I felt like nothing in our lives changed. It felt like if I didn't have a beautiful baby or little one to feature...my incomplete family wasn't enough. That I was just shining a light on what is missing in my life.

But I'm done with that. Our family...just us three (including the pup)...we're enough. So gosh darn it. I'm going to send some holiday cards. And you should too!

I didn't send christmas cards for many years for the same reason. Then I decided to send cards with pictures of our travels or other fun things we were doing in our life. Friends enjoy getting cards from you whether you have kids or not.

I haven't gotten that many cards this year either. I am fashionably late with mailing mine out; and they should be handed over to the mailman Monday.
I don't do picture Christmas cards for the same reason.. the picture cards we get are from either newlyweds or new parents. I agree though that we shouldn't let not having children (yet) keep us from enjoying all the same joys of the holiday season!

We are sending out some Christmas cards/picture. They may be a little less impersonal because to recap what really went on this year doesn't sound fun at all, but it will be nice to send out something to those we love.
You definitely are enough with the family you currently have and I'm so so glad to hear that you will be sending something out :)

I was thinking the same thing this year about not receiving as many Christmas cards. I have talked to a few friends and some have just decided not do it because the time just got away from them. I always send out cards but I was also one of the few who ran out of time. :/ I'm not sure how since it's not like I didn't know Christmas was coming. LOL!

The Hubs and I just were discussing this...whether or not we should send out cards. And I agree with you! Just us with our men and our fur-babies are enough! Merry Christmas, dear!!

I've felt the same as you for so long. I'm glad you'll be sending cards, though because you're right- your little family of three IS enough! XO

Great choices. I love getting cards, and you are totally right...I have gotten way less this year than normal, but I feel like people just didn't realize how fast Christmas would be coming after Thanksgiving. Some of my friends are doing New Years cards instead! Happy Holidays to you and your family of three.

I normally love creating and sending cards but for some reason I just haven't even thought about them this year.

Gosh I love your honesty!! I am done with missing the moment in my life because no baby is in our arms too. Hence photo Christmas cards for the first time in 8 years. We have something to be proud of we have beautiful marriages and handsome husbands that would look amazing on Christmas cards. You don't have to wait until Christmas send a new years update to friend. Tell them abo all the spectacular things you and A have done this year. Your runs, building homes, travel, anniversary and put it on the back of a calendar.

Good for you! Enjoy the "now".
Merry Christmas, friend!

My husband and I have not sent out Christmas cards the last few years for these same exact reasons... we felt like our friends had good reason to send them: their lives were evolving, their families were growing, they had lots of news to report. Us? We had nothing. We felt like anything we had to share would seem empty and small compared to the news of others. We finally sent out Christmas cards this year for the first time in three years, for the same reason that you are sending them: we are enough... just the way we are.

This is such a sweet little post. Thanks for sharing!

I love doing Christmas cards, but i agree that it's hard. When we got married, i wanted to do a fall photo shoot (if we could afford it!) to use for anniversary/christmas-card pics each year (our anniversary is in November). We have taken them every year except for 2011, so we just used a fun pic from that year. Anyway, every year it gets harder... i think "maybe NEXT year our card will have a baby in it, or at least a pregnant belly!" And the next year it doesn't. And then i think, "Maybe next year?!" This one is yet another family of 3 (me, my husband & our dog!) but i will keep doing the cards. :o/

I love your perspective! The three of you are enough. Make some wonderful cards of something you truly enjoyed this year. Doesn't mean you don't still want a child so very much - it just means sharing a part of your year that you loved. Hugs.

I haven't sent cards in many years, but mostly because I've been lazy. But then again, I have never done picture cards because I've always thought it was ridiculous to just send a picture of US year after year. I also like to personalize them with a short personalized note in each one rather than just a signature. Who has time for that stuff?? Not me. Thus, cards don't get sent. However, I still LOVE.to GET cards!

I love your attitude. Your family is three is your amazing family and deserves to be shared with your friends and family through holiday greetings. We sent New Year cards this year because we celebrate Hanukkah and talk about early! I wasn't ready in November with my photo or card!! Visiting from ICLW and wishing you well on your journey!

Hi from ICLW. I sent out at least 2 dozen cards this year and have received maybe 9. When I mentioned this to a relative on the phone last night, one who has received a card and not sent one, I was chastised. Really is it that time consuming to write a pleasantry back to a relative, especially a close relative?

Thanks for stopping by my blog. The three of you definitely are enough <3

Those are very cute. You should post a picture of what you ended up choosing!

Good for you for sending Christmas cards this year - I was in the same boat as you for years ... nothing was changing for my husband and I and therefore it always felt awkward to send cards. This year, although it really was a PAIN to manually address all of my holiday cards, I did so with a smile on my face ... this year tucking in a tiny picture of our little miracle in her Christmas dress.

Happy holidays Jessah!

I hope you got your holiday cards!

I've thought many times of the years about not sending out another cute picture of my pup, but then how would I make sure people sent me cards in return. After all, my akita is much cuter than their kids. ;)
