gone

He's gone. I thought my husband was coming home from work today. He went to work on Wednesday directly after our call with CCRM and should have returned home this morning. Instead, I got a call at midnight last night that he is being "mandatoried" to a strike team and they are heading down to Ventura.

The headlines are all over the news.
"Monster California Fire Reaches the Ocean and Pushes Towards Malibu"
"Thousands Flee California Wildfires, Naval Base Threatened"
"California Firefighters Battle to Save Homes, 30,000 Acre Wildfire"

A will be arriving at this blazing fire in a few hours. After two days on the ambulance without any sleep and an 8-hour drive to Southern California in an uncomfortable fire rig, he will battle the high winds and fight to save other people's homes and help put out this crazy fire.

Depending on whether the winds die down or pick up, he could be gone for a few days or a few weeks. Hopefully they are able to get this fire contained sooner rather than later.

This kinda puts things into perspective.
Our IVF discussion is on hold for now.
Instead, I'll be praying for my husband's save return home.

I thought Tim might be telling me something similar this morning when I talked to him, but he chose not to go. I am sure A wasn't thrilled! Hopefully they get it under control soon (with out too many people losing their homes) and he gets back!

Oh my gosh, Jessah. How scary for both of you. I'm so thankful for the brave men and women that battle these fires, but I can't imagine how stressful and scary it is to be one (or be married to one). He will be in my prayers.

My husband barely got out of CA yesterday as his company was close to the fire and they were thinking of closing the highway (they might have by now). I hope that your husband stays SAFE.

Yeah! Things like this do put things in perspective. But I'm sure Jessah that he'll be coming home safe and sound. Hang in there. What a wonderful job he has, helping people in this kind of horrific events. xo

Oh gees, friend. That's no good. My co-worker's husband is an LA County fireman so we have had the news on all day for the past two days watching the coverage. I live in a high fire zone as well and when the Santa Ana's pick up I always worry for everyone's safety. I didn't know you were so far up north in California. I was going to suggest the fertility doctor my sister ended up using... after switching around a bit. I'm so sorry for all your troubles but you are still gorgeous!!!

So scary and hoping for his safe return home. Hate all this pressure is on you right now, just unwind with some good food and a girlie movie.

So scary! I'm way behind in my reading, but I'm hoping he is home by now. Definitely does put things in perspective when you have to worry about your husband, in addition to all the people effected by the fires.
