alpaca love

In this post, I told you all about my love of animals and my dream of becoming a farmer. It was written with a lot of humor but in many ways...I was dead serious. And I never realize how serious I am until I find myself in wide open spaces with lots of furry creatures.

A few month's ago, my mom's hubby had a book signing at the Enchanted April Inn. Me and little guy headed out to show our support and meet up with my family. I ended up falling in love with the property and the animals. Since then I've found myself daydreaming about a simpler life. Breathing in the fresh air. Growing my own produce. Tending to the animals. I swear, this is how I'm meant to spend my retirement.

When I discovered these guys, my excitement for the Inn grew even more. If you don't already know, I love horses and have an unhealthy obsession with alpacas. They have the sweetest faces and are such peaceful creatures.

I feel like singing the Green Acres theme song right now. Better start my horseback riding lessons back up so I can get my fresh air and animal fix.

What is your favorite animal?

Growing up on a farm and even though my cows are still at my parents I still say we live on a farm. Best place ever to raise a family! But...on the alpacas yuck. They spit and I've seen them do it yuck!!

Aw, I love alpacas Jessah! I thought about getting them (we live on a farm) but they are super expensive. I really want a llama... llamas are supposed to be great protectors and that would help my chickens and guineas from getting eaten by predators.

My absolute favorite animal in the world is my dog, Rosco. He is the greatest. :)

Holy cow! I'm glad I'm not the only one. I tell my bf every day how I wish I lived on a farm (although I am more into fields of grasses and the whole gardening thing). But I waited like 6 mos before I told him my dream life was farming bc what 28 yr old sits around and thinks about farming? But I completely get you on that.

My favorite animals are caribou and shovel lizards (random lizard from the sahara) but honestly you can't farm those. My other dream job is to follow Jeff Corwin around and save random obscure animals.

But seriously, I'm convinced farming is where it's at!

Is that your Aussie pup? So cute! My favorite animal hands down is a horse. I currently own one, and my parents have 5. I grew up riding and competing on horses. I absolutely love them! They bring me a sense of peace.

You have a great eye for photography. Love your photos! And that doggie...is that a part Australian shephard or border collie or what? SUPER CUTE! I am in love with that pup! Adorable!

I love animals too, although we only have two cats because we travel quite a bit and I got kind of tired of cleaning up after dogs growing up with them for so long. (My favorite was a springer spaniel names Rascal).

Our girl cat is part siamese, part tabby, and has a weight problem, but is so darn cute with bright blue eyes, stripes down her fat little legs and cheetah spots on her dragging tummy. Our other is a tuxedo, and he's my boy. Poor guy gets sat on a lot by fatso girl. Pretty hilarious. Yes, they sure do provide some entertainment. :)

I hope you get your dream of having a farm some day. There is a lot to be said about living the simple life and being one with nature and breathing all that fresh air!

i rode horses from the time i was 9 til about 20...so i'm a sucker for horses. i think maybe that's why i got such a big dog, he's a little horse-like himself ;)
