making memories in mammoth

Since A's family lives in Southern California, we don't get to see them as often as we'd like. My grandmother's cancer diagnosis was a reminder that time with our family is so precious. Being the planner that I am, I decided to organize a family vacation for my hubby's family. Mammoth Lakes was an ideal spot because it is located somewhat in the middle of the state, making it accessible for us and A's family. To make it easier for everyone taking time off work, we booked the trip on Memorial Day weekend. (Yes, almost two weeks ago. Life has been so crazy busy...this is the first moment I've had to post about our trip.)

The weather couldn't have been more interesting. When we arrived in Mammoth, it was snowing and 28 degrees. Perfect for bundling up, sharing a big, hearty meal and sitting by the fire. You don't expect winter weather on Memorial Day weekend. But that's what we got. Initially, at least. However, by Sunday, there wasn't a cloud in the sky and the weather was warming up. This change in temperature allowed us to enjoy some great hiking and site seeing.

It was so nice to have everyone under the same roof. Our amazing tri-level cabin had plenty of room even boasting a sauna, jacuzzi, gym and game room with pool table. Sometimes we stayed in and made meals and played board games or hide & seek with kids. Other times, we explored Mammoth and dined in some great restaurants. The trip was perfect!

But the best part was the company. I'm fortunate to have married into a very loving family that has welcomed me with open arms. Everyone in A's family has a huge heart and we truly enjoy each other's company. The memories that we made on this trip will be cherished by all. Hopefully it will become an annual tradition.

We are headed out to Mammoth next weekend! Well, actually, we will be staying in Toms Place. My hubby spent his summers there growing up. I can't wait to take the boys up. We are going with my husbands cousins and their kids. I am really looking forward to it!
